KISS / FAQ
KISS is a wholesale lab. We sell to professional photographers and photography businesses, not to the public. That is a legal requirement on our side, because our customers are the ones who collect sales tax on the albums they sell. Before we open an account we confirm that you run a photography business. A live website is the fastest way; if you work mainly through Instagram or Facebook, tell us and we will verify you another way, such as a business tax licence.
Almost always because we could not match the e-mail you signed up with to your business website: the site was inactive, or the address belonged to a different domain. It is not a judgement about your work; it is how we confirm that it is really you opening the account. Send us any other social media you use, or a business tax licence, and we will finish the review.
Yes. A website is the quickest proof, not the only one. Send us your Instagram or Facebook business page and, if you have one, a business tax licence. We review these by hand and will tell you exactly what we still need.
Usually within 24 hours. Applications are reviewed by a person on business days, so one sent over a weekend is looked at on the next working day. When you are approved you get an e-mail, and your dashboard unlocks pricing, the product options, designing and ordering. If you are working to a deadline, reply to your application e-mail and say so, and we will move you up the queue.
Everything starts as a design in your KISS dashboard: you upload your spreads, choose the size, cover material, page thickness and any customisation, then order that design. There is no separate order form: the design is the order. If you would rather be walked through it the first time, ask us for a call.
Our pricing sits behind your login on purpose, and it protects you: it is wholesale pricing, and if your couples could see what you pay, you would lose control of how you price albums in your own studio. Create a free account and the full pricing guide is in your dashboard.
Store prices are your studio’s cost; you set your own retail price. We do not contact your client as part of a normal product order. If you use Album Assistant, any direct client communication must be agreed with you first.
No. We do not add sales tax to your order, and nothing is added after it either.
We ship worldwide from our own facility in Europe and we clear every parcel ourselves: customs, duties, import charges and courier handling fees are paid on our side, wherever the album is going. The amount you approve at checkout is the amount you pay, and nothing further is ever collected from your client on delivery.
That is what makes shipping straight to a couple safe with us. A parcel arriving with a customs bill attached turns the best moment of your delivery into an argument about money, so we took that risk off the table instead of passing it to you.
Sales tax on what you charge your own client is still yours to handle, the same as anything else you sell.
All major credit cards, paid at checkout in your dashboard. We do not accept cheques. Kiss Credit on your account can also be applied as a payment method.
Since we moved production to our facility in Europe, card payments are processed internationally. Most banks do not charge for this, but some add a foreign transaction fee. The fee comes from your bank, not from us. If you see one, tell us and we will help you sort out what it was.
No. A single album is a completely normal order, and there is no minimum order value either. Each album starts at a base of 10 spreads, and you add spreads from there.
Yes, and the one most photographers use is duplicates. Order the same album again alongside the original and each extra copy is a flat price for that size, whatever the spread count, so on anything longer than the base album the second copy costs meaningfully less than the first. Parent copies are the obvious case; a studio sample of a wedding you are proud of is the other.
Beyond that, if you have a larger batch or steady repeat volume, write to us with sizes and quantities. Pricing at that scale is something we work out with you rather than publish.
Duplicate prices sit in your dashboard alongside the rest of your pricing.
Yes, and that is how most photographers start. Two things work side by side: a swatch box with the actual cover materials and colours, plus page samplers showing luster and matte paper in both thick and thin pages; and a studio sample album made with your own images, so you show your work rather than a generic demo. You can also browse every cover at swatches.kiss.us before anything ships.
Yes. We can send swatch rings with the specific colours you name, for a small shipping fee. Tell us the colours and the address and we will send a payment link.
Your first studio sample is purchased upfront and reimbursed as store credit through the onboarding program. Check the applicable store’s program terms before ordering.
Contact support for subsequent sample pricing. Studio samples are for showing your work, not resale.
Samples carry a clear deboss reading “Sample — not for resale” on the back corner.
We ask that you do not sell these to clients. Studio samples make a real difference to album sales, and we would rather forfeit the profit than have you selling without one.
Every album we make is lay-flat: spreads open flat with no gutter loss and no image lost in the fold.
Thick pages add rigidity and weight; thin pages make a lighter book at the same spread count. Both open flat. Compare physical page samples and confirm thickness options for the album in your chosen store.
Heirloom is our flagship album, with a substantial cover, a choice of page thicknesses and the full material collection. Everyday Book offers photographic printing, thin lay-flat pages and selected materials for everyday stories. Personalization options depend on the product and ordering system.
Four ranges, 53 colours: 17 genuine leathers (five of them distressed), 8 suedes, 14 fine linens and 14 standard linens.
You can see every one of them on a real cover, with debossing and engraving applied, in the cover studio. Because colour on a screen is never the colour in the hand, the swatch box exists exactly so you and your client decide from the real material.
Each album starts at 10 spreads and you add more as you need them; added spreads are priced per spread in your pricing guide. Keep key content away from the very edge of a spread. The designer shows the safe area, and we check files before printing.
No. We have perfected the center micro-fold, so your work is displayed without being cut down the middle.
Our distressed leather is unprocessed: it is not dyed or treated. Color and character depend on the year the hides were raised, the regional weather, insect bites and scratches.
Every hide is different, so distressed covers carry natural color variation and markings. That is the material, not a flaw.
All of our linen covers are vegan. We do not offer faux leather.
Our guarantee is for life, so every material has to be proven to last. Vegan leather alternatives are new enough that we cannot yet stand behind them for that long.
Top, middle or bottom, each left, centre or right, plus an upper-third centre position. If your studio has a debossing plate set up with us, we can also deboss the inside cover, front or back.
Send it to us before you order and we will tell you. Here is why it matters: your artwork becomes a metal plate that is pressed into the cover, so every line has to survive that transfer. Solid black shapes and clean outlines press beautifully; hairlines, shading and dense detail do not. We would much rather simplify the file with you first than deboss a cover you will not want to hand over.
A PNG with a transparent background and solid black artwork. That is all — there is no vector or layered file to prepare.
Size it to the dimensions shown in the designer for the placement you chose, and keep the design simple: solid shapes and clean outlines press beautifully, hairlines and shading do not. Name the file plainly, JamesAndClaire.png rather than anything carrying ; : & +.
Colour — gold foil, for example — is applied during production, so it does not come from your file. Setting up a custom plate carries a one-off fee, shown in your dashboard. Send us the artwork before you order if you would like us to check it first.
By default we center all engraving or debossing on the front cover, not including the spine.
If you want it centered across the spine as well, tell support@kiss.us before placing the order.
Engraving uses a laser to etch the graphic into the material. Debossing uses a metal plate to press the graphic into it.
Try both in the cover studioEngraving etches into the material itself, so the result varies with the cover color. The leather and linen guides show how it lands on each one.
No. You can design it in our tool, or hand it to our design team. When you buy the design service, one of our designers builds the layout and shares it with you for review; you tell us what to change before anything goes to production. Tell us up front how many spreads you want and how you want the selection handled.
Send a culled selection rather than the whole wedding. A tighter set gives a much better first draft: 200 images with a 10-spread album is a mismatch we have to come back to you about.
No. If you order through Direct Order in SmartAlbums, the high-resolution files reach us automatically. The low-resolution spreads you can see in the app are only for proofing and do not reflect print quality.
Design your spreads at 300 dpi at the finished album size, in sRGB, and send them as JPG at full quality.
The designer warns you when an image is too small for the size you chose, and we check every file again before it goes to print. If you want a second pair of eyes before you commit, ask us and we will look at the design with you.
Artwork for a debossing plate is the exception: that one needs a PNG with a transparent background, because the shape has to be cut out of its background to become a metal plate.
Yes. You share the design with your couple, collect their feedback and make the changes, and nothing goes to print until you place the order. You stay in the middle of the relationship the whole time: they never see what you paid, and they cannot order behind you.
No, and that is deliberate. Albums are ordered from your account, by you, so the relationship and the pricing stay yours. Your couple can see the design and give feedback, but they cannot place the order and never see what you paid.
Your dashboard has a product guide and sales resources built for this: images and descriptions you can put in front of a couple, including a version already marked up at retail so you are not doing the maths in front of them.
Ten business days at most, and that is a promise rather than an estimate: if we miss it under normal conditions the album is free, with the full product value credited to your account as Kiss Credit. Rush production brings it down to two business days.
Both windows are counted from the day after you place the order, and cover print and production — the album is ready to leave us on the last day of that window, and shipping is added on top.
Both windows are the regular-season promise. The fourth quarter is our peak and runs to its own timetable: we announce the holiday cut-off during the third quarter, and an order placed before that date is guaranteed to reach you before Christmas. Neither promise covers force majeure such as a power outage. If you are working to a hard delivery date, tell us the date rather than the turnaround and we will tell you the last day you can submit.
Yes, worldwide, by courier and with tracking. Customs, duties and import charges are handled and paid by us, so a parcel never arrives with a bill attached. The order sits on your account whatever the destination, which is why the tracking comes to you even when the album goes straight to your client.
No. We ship from our own facility in Europe and we handle all customs, tariffs and additional fees on our side, so neither you nor your client pays more than the original order amount. If a courier ever asks your client to pay duties, do not pay. Send it to us and we will deal with it.
Yes. We never include an invoice, a receipt or any pricing in a shipment, so every parcel is ready to go directly to your couple exactly as it leaves us.
Tell us and send photos. If it is our error we remake the album at our cost: nothing for you to pay, and nothing for your client to pay.
The remake ships free and by express courier. A fault on our side should not also cost you the delivery date you promised your couple.
Every book goes through separate print and finishing lines, and when something slips past our checks it is on us to fix.
We can still remake it, at half price. Because a cover cannot be remade on its own the whole album is reproduced: you place the order again and we apply a 50% discount.
It is not a small thing to swallow a mistake in front of a client. We would rather get you a book you are happy to hand over than be right about whose fault it was.
KISS Credit belongs to the store account where it was issued. If you move between MyKiss and KISS Store, contact support to arrange a transfer: for technical reasons, one credit balance cannot be shared between both stores. Discounts and GOLD, SILVER or BRONZE benefits do not carry over automatically. SmartAlbums ordering does not support these store credits or benefits.
We cannot guarantee a cancellation once an order is placed: production starts very quickly and every order is custom-made, so please review it before submitting.
Fees may apply if an order has been submitted and changes are requested. Write to support@kiss.us and we will do our best to get the order right.
Three things: outstanding quality, photographers succeeding, and clients being happy with what they receive.
We guarantee everything we make for life. Anything wrong on arrival, or any manufacturing defect later, comes back for repair or replacement. Wear and tear is repaired at a reasonable charge.
We also want you confident selling albums, whether you are new to it or refining a process you already have. Every KISS customer can book a free call with our team.
Not directly, and we are sorry to say no to something you clearly care about. KISS is a wholesale lab, set up to sell to photography businesses rather than to the public.
You are not stuck, though. Write to us with your city and what you have in mind, and we will put you in touch with a photographer who works with us and takes on album design for couples.
One thing we would ask first: if you already have a photographer, talk to them before you come to us. Plenty of photographers simply do not offer albums, and that is exactly when this makes sense — but going around a photographer you are already working with is not what this is for.
No questions match that search.
Check the current production estimate in your store. Production and shipping are separate. Our fulfillment policy explains the credit guarantee and its exceptions.
Design it yourself with KISS Designer, or we'll handle it for you, even working directly with your client if you prefer. You shoot, we take care of the rest.
Shipping prices and benefits depend on your ordering store and destination. Check the checkout estimate, or choose direct delivery to your client.
Crafted with passion since 2006, our products are built to last, which is why we proudly stand behind them with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.
